I recall reading an article in the UK press about the revenge taken by a “woman scorned”. Her response to her husband’s affair was very dramatic to say the least; she cut the legs and arms off all of his suits and then set about distributing the contents of his celebrated wine cellar around the village in which they lived – one or two bottles on each and every doorstep, together with their morning milk delivery! Quite inventive. And then I’m sure we all read about the case of a certain man whose furious wife decided that cutting legs off suits simply wasn’t enough and took a knife to his manhood instead. I subsequently read that he turned this to his advantage by becoming a porn star; Apparently so many people wanted to see his “wotsit”, he not only had it sewn back on again, he had a couple of inches added aswell!
This doesn’t appear to be an uncommon occurrence; just Google “cut off his willy” and there are numerous references to this form of revenge. In fact I did hear that some ladies have taken this one step further, and attached their partners’ manhood to helium balloons so as to ensure that they would not be able to have them sewn back on again. Ouch!
What is the message being conveyed? Is the aim simply to make sure that they won’t be able to do THAT again? Or “you hurt me and so I’ll hurt you”, in the spirit of “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”? Or is it to expose their actions to the world at large, to embarrass them just as you feel you have been embarrassed? Is it simply a way of lashing out? All of the above are intertwined, I’m sure.
Not everyone responds in such a dramatic manner. Have you watched the film “the women”? It’s an intriguing film, with Meg Ryan (in the most recent version) playing the housewife who thinks everything is running along quite smoothly….until she discovers her husband’s dalliance with the perfume girl in their local upscale store. This film depicts every type of woman, all ages, shapes, sizes and mentalities – and each has their own take on how the husband should be dealt with. The mother’s is the voice of reason (and experience) recommending a stiff upper lip combined with a period of playing hard to get, and letting him know what he is missing. Sensible woman – this approach was working rather well, until friends added their opinions into the mix! Best Doll Clothes and Patterns
But, how do you control your emotions, and turn a blind eye, when your heart is breaking? And how do you know if your partner is just having a minor dalliance or if they have really fallen in love? It’s very difficult, if not impossible, to be logical when your emotions are involved. Logic and emotions are like “oil and water” and rarely do they mix well in these circumstances. In fact whenever you are confronted with a situation perceived as a threat (and this type of circumstance definitely falls into that category) your higher brain functions are effectively cut off, ensuring that you cannot think logically. One has to step back and calm down before your logical brain can re-engage. Your emotions definitely need to be managed in such circumstances. And hypnosis can be invaluable here.
Whether it’s best to lash out or to turn a blind eye is a matter of personal opinion. Either way, there’s a lot you can do to help yourself to think logically and deal with an undesirable situation in the most effective manner possible. And if it does end in a permanent rift, it’s massively important to be your own best friend and to make it as easy as possible for you to move on. There is an art to moving on after a broken relationship, but you can learn it, and apply it. Hypnosis is extremely useful in all this as in itself it is a state of relaxation, and allows you to take a step back and think logically; you can rebuild your confidence and see things from a different angle with a few well placed suggestions…and prepare yourself to attract a better partner into your life.

It would appear that the BBC and ITV are in competition over a forthcoming performance by singer-songwriter Beyonce Knowles. The singer who also goes under the name of Sasha Fierce, her alter ego, is reportedly booked to appear on both channels in November and December; this month (November 2008) she was scheduled to appear on an episode of Strictly Come Dancing, and will appear next month on the hit ITV television show The X Factor.
Indeed, according to website Ananova, a source for The X Factor has confirmed that they “aren’t happy Beyonce is doing Strictly, but she is just one of a number of huge names we’re getting”. But surely, the fact that X Factor is getting hold of Beyonce in the first place is one of many tremendous gifts given to the programme’s thousands of adoring fans! They’re also reportedly getting hold of Britney Spears and Mariah Carey.

As a professional jingle singer, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best singing talent in the business and I can tell you that there is a range of work and talent out there. Even as a former talent booking agent with the William Morris Agency, it became common everyday work looking for that special someone who would be the next star. Finding individuals with the unique quality, look and drive was, and still is, a relentless pursuit. As founder of ReelMusician.com, we are always amazed at the lack of both professionalism and preparedness that singers try to engage their singing careers on. I am a firm believer that talent does rise to the top, but the packaging and marketing behind the talent are key – And that still holds true for session singers as well. What does it take to break into commercial singing and obtain jingle work? How can you accelerate your singing dreams and catapult your talents into a real money making career. Your next item in your game plan in becoming a commercial singer is to develop what I consider one of the most critical pieces of the game – Your ability to develop, cultivate and befriend other jingle singers, producers, writers, and a host of music industry professionals to start submitting your demo to. Thankfully, as a general rule, many singers, like a lot of musicians, have a natural innate ability with people skills and are good at developing those friendships and relationships. You will start looking at album covers, talking with other singers in your area, and locating the major music recording venues in your geographic surrounding and getting your reel out. I would start with other session singers who you are not going to be in direct competition with and ask them for advice and where you would go with your reel and maybe ask if you could meet over a cup of coffee. This will give you more than enough contacts and strategies to start dropping off your reel. I would keep a very detailed log of who, when, what was talked about along with contact numbers and any other misc info that will be helpful in your singing career track.
You will want to develop a CD cover that is not obnoxious but is eye catching and remember able. On the front of your CD will be your name, telephone and email along with the year and season the demo was released. You will include all contact info on anything going out. The inside sleeve will include what we just mentioned along with the order of jingles and with overall length. The actual CD should include your name year and season, telephone number and length of reel. Don’t get so artsy fartsy with fonts that nobody can read it. Better to have simple fonts like Arial or Times New Roman than something that is frustrating to get through. You will want to submit your demo via snail mail. I am aware that email is more affordable, but you don’t have permission to send your material via email and seeing your reel actually cross their desk and coupled with the ability to be put into their car to be listened to on the way home is significantly more effective.
In closing, your success in breaking into studio and commercial singing will lean heavily on the actual talent, your incredible demo reel and your ability to connect and more importantly follow up with individuals. Most singers don’t have a problem finding the key players in the music arena, but don’t have the discipline and follow up that is needed like in any sales to develop relationships, follow through and get the deal done. Michael Joseph Jackson – Born from 29th Aug 1958 to 25th Jun 2009 – Love him or hate him, Michael Jackson or MJ as he was affectionately known was the indisputable King of Pop and was one of the greatest, if not the greatest singer, dancer and entertainer the world has ever known.
Born as Michael Joseph Jackson in Gary, Indiana, The world first got a glimpse of this superstar when MJ appeared on TV with his siblings, then known as The Jackson Five in 1968.
Although still a member of The Jackson five, he launched his solo career in 1971. His popularity as a great singer and dancer kept on spreading until in his 1982 album, Thriller became the world’s best selling album of all time.
Actually, the Thriller was only a precursor to 4 more of his chart busting albums – Off the Wall in 1979, Bad in 1987, Dangerous in 1991 and of course, HIStory in1995.
In the early 1980s, Michael went on to become the first African American entertainer to amass a legion of strong crossover fans following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos, such as Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller transformed the music video from a promotional tool into a a truly professional art form.
In his heydays, Michael Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial and charitable causes through his foundations.
A sad chapter of his life was when he was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993. However, the criminal charges against the singer were dropped due to lack of evidence. Then in 2005, MJ was tried and acquitted of further sexual abuse allegations and several other charges. His life was a miserable shamble then.
Michael Jackson was said to have a very unhappy childhood. Jackson recounted several times that he was physically and emotionally abused by his father from a very young age and was forced to do incessant rehearsals, had whippings and name calling. But he also credited his father’s strict discipline as playing a large part in his success as a top notched singer, performer and entertainer.
Michael Jackson first spoke openly about his childhood abuse in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey. He said that during his childhood he often cried from loneliness and would sometimes start to throw up upon seeing his father.
In another high interview, the singer covered his face with his hand and began crying when talking about his childhood abuse. Jackson recalled that his father, Joseph Jackson sat on a chair with a belt in his hand as he and his siblings rehearsed and that “if you didn’t do it the right way, he would tear you up, really get at you”.
The entertainer’s biggest moment was during the period of Thriller when his lawyer John Branca negotiated what he proudly announced then as the highest royalty rate ever in the music industry, approximately $2 per album. Meanwhile, MJ raked in more profits from The Making of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, a documentary by himself and John Landis which sold over more than 300,000 copies at that time.
